When I was in the French Quarter last fall I couldn't help noticing the old iron work on the balconies of the buildings. Much of it had a patina that can only come from age and a character that was just a bit "fussy" in style.....I really like that look. I used the colors I saw in the iron work and on the buildings there in New Orleans. Very rich, and with purpose, but also blending the tones just like the flavor of the inspiration. Vieux Carre' means "old square".....and many of the buildings and balconies I was studying was around Jackson Square.
